Will the new Texas power report change the game?

After months of delays, the electricity forecast for the next 10 years will be released on Feb. 28, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) announced Tuesday.

The politically-charged report will become a focal point in the ongoing debate about the state’s electricity market and whether it should change to a capacity market.

The Capacity, Demand and Reserves (CDR) report uses a new methodology that uses the latest smart-meter technology and other factors to better predict the growth in electricity demand.
