Higher electric prices, lower reliability expected in Texas

Texans likely will be paying more for electricity in the coming year and might experience even more shortages.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the problem lies with the lack of construction of new generating plants by power generators, and the fact that some companies are shutting down plants that are old or do not comply with new pollution standards.

Lower supply and higher demand equals higher prices, the newspaper reported.
