Are you overpaying for electricity? Probably. Here's what to do

By Dave Lieber, The Dallas Morning News, 3/2/2017

We have an energy crisis in Texas — a lack of energy from state lawmakers and the Public Utility Commission about fixing the crooked business of selling electricity to homeowners.

Both sides are giving each other cover to do nothing.

The PUC this year sent lawmakers a report about the glorious, wonderful, amazing electricity shopping system it regulates. A problem? Not on their watch.

Lawmakers getting that report from the state regulators can say: "Everything is fine. We don't need to make changes."

So far in this legislative session, no one has introduced an electricity bill designed to end deceptive marketing practices.

The Watchdog wants to blow their cover. The system remains a horror show of confusion, duplicity and unnecessary complications. There's no reason electricity companies should get the best of regulators and consumers, but they do, time and again.
